| Born in 1980 on the “Red Side” of Manchester, Chris Rogers has grown up with music in the family. “My Dad was in a band that did the clubs in Manchester, and he was a DJ for over 20 years. There was always music being played. We’d go to the pub on a Saturday night, watch Match of the Day and then listened to old vinyl”In the past, Chris has volunteered at Hospital Radio station Northern Air and has been lucky enough to DJ in Bangkok and Berlin and of course Manchester. In 2006 Chris and a mate arranged and promoted a House Music night called “Filthy Fango” The night was a success with friends and family in attendance. “We wanted to experiment with music and decided to add an acoustic guitar set in the middle of a house music night. It got a great reception and proves that there’s no rules or limits to what people listen to. “Downtempo Sessions is all about music to chill out and relax to. Not only are there some all time classics – but I include some weird, strange and experimental stuff too. I suppose you just have to listen to the show!”

| I spent my formative years in a small village called Broadbottom in Tameside, East Manchester. My musical tastes are mostly down to my dad who had a totally random record collection which I used to play and listen to on his old record player. I remember playing records from artists such as Bob Marley, James Brown, Van Morrison, Bowie and Dylan, but also more random stuff from the likes of ‘modern’ Irish folk band Clannad and Peruvian pan pipe supremos – Apu; which at the time I thought were a bit boring but on relfection they definately shaped my current musical tastes!!Living so close to Manchester in the early 90s was a very exciting time for music and I spent a lot of my teenage years in the Wychwood in Ashton and also the Apollo and Academy watching live bands which was brilliant. After getting sucked into the Madchester scene and spending far too much time in Fifth Avenue listening to the Happy Monday’s and Stone Roses I discovered the dance music scene and found that I had a big love of Jungle. In the mid to late 90′s the Jungle music scene in Manchester was underground and it was that edgyness that attracted me to nights like the Dark Jazzyness of Spellbound at Band on the Wall, Guidance at the Music Box, Viagra Fools and DPercussion.
My friends then dragged me along to Havoc at Club Phoenix on Oxford Road which was an Acid Techno night that was just totally insane but amazing. They used to open up the upstairs doors to the shopping centre and everyone would be dancing and raving around that! From the Phoenix we used to go straight to Jilly’s and spend a couple of hours rocking….literlally waiting for the firts train back to deepest darkest Broady! From there I went to Uni in Sheffield and got involved in the free party scene, throwing parties in the peaks and started promoting my own music nights firstly with SUBversion and then Transmission. I got into Funk and Soul considerably recently but the truth be told I love all genres of music and don’t want to pidgeon hole myself too much. Currently I live in London, protecting birds and again promoting nights for charity this time called Pi. Check www.pi-collective.co.uk You can catch my show at 8pm on Friday nights. I present The Shindig Breakfast Show (daily at 10:00am) and the FCUM Radio Gig Guide (daily at 11:30am). The breakfast show is effectively a collection of marvellous morning tunes packaged together with some fun features and banter with my co-host Ben, whereas the FCUM Radio Gig Guide is my opportunity to play from acts who are playing locally and in festivals this week.I’ve been presenting radio shows at a community level for seven years. Following some obvious hospital radio experience in my late teens where I remember being told I couldn’t play ‘Sprit In The Sky’ by Norman Greenbaun, my radio career started at Stockport’s Pure 107.8FM where my good friend Chris and I presented The Big Time. Community radio is such a great way of learning the ropes of how to put a show, schedule, podcast or whatever together and gain experience. Working with the community is also one of FCUM Radio’s prime objectives. Before my time at Pure, I was in Doktor Mandrake – a local, unsigned band, playing punk, funk, blues, ska and timely rock n roll.
Our ethos that we had when we wrote in the band remains today as I get to select music for people to listen to on the radio. The music that gets me going in passionate, real, dirty, theatric, eccentric, gritty and dark. I don’t like pretension and I just plain don’t understand any kind of Metal. I have nothing against it, I just don’t understand it. I have no time for style being placed before content and any band that moans about releasing records and playing gigs. “Music is a great energizer. It’s a language everybody knows.” – Bill Hicks. Running the radio station alongside a club like FC United is a dream. Both of us proudly stand for community, ambition and inclusion. I hope that we have all been part of an institution that will not only generate support for FC United and the benefits of radio to a community, but also one that will be creative, independent and unique as we have already proved we can be.
You can get in touch with me for requests or recommendations for either the Shindig Breakfast Show or the FCUM Radio Gig Guide onstation@fcumradio.co.uk |

I’ve been an avid record collector since 1972 and have amassed a large collection of vinyl and CDs covering a wide range of music from the 60s to the present day. Soul music accounts for the vast majority but I also collect jazz, funk, blues, reggae, folk, dance and rock which I like to include in the Out of Left Field feature on the show. I also play the original version of a well known cover version each week (Make Way for the Original) so that listeners can gain a greater understanding of a record’s pedigree and feature a particular artist each week in the hope that it will bring wider appreciation of their work.As a Manchester United fan from the age of six, a founder member of FC United of Manchester and a music lover, FCUM Radio provides me with the chance to combine my two great passions in life. Each track is carefully selected and I endeavour to provide valid information about it and the artist concerned in order to broaden the appreciation of the music. I try to avoid playing obvious records as you can hear them on any station and never lose sight of the fact that the music is the most important aspect of the show which is the reason I start and finish with it rather than the spoken word.
You can listen to Hidden Gems every Thursday at 9.30pm, repeated Sundays at 2pm. If you have any comments or thoughts about the show then I welcome feedback at hiddengems@fcumradio.co.uk |

| I have been with FC since day 1 after following MUFC since 1982. I am interested in writing and wrote “Trips on Glue” the diary of the season 2007-08 of FC United. I have also written for the official matchday programme, the website, UTB and other websites such as the North West Counties. My show will reflect my tastes in music from the 60s through to the present day, with a focus on Manchester music, independent music and some of the great British songwriters over those years. In fact, as long as its good, its in!I will be introducing many features on the show such as “Album of the week”, “Undecover” and “They should have been big”. If you want to know what they are all about, why not tune in and listen. You can contact me on northernlights@fcumradio.co.uk or follow me on Twitter @northlightshow |

Originally from Clayton-le-moors in East Lancs, and like many FC People was a long time home and away Man U supporter, going for 25 years, before the FC Revolution started. When I decided to start DJing for FC, it was more a case of looking for an area of music, that wasn’t being done yet, as my tastes are all over the place, and I have a extensive and eclectic mix of Tunes. Still a bit old school in the fact I still buy Vinyl, and always will I guess, as long as it is there to buy. Even when I started collecting Vinyl at 10 years old, (still got the very first single’s I ever bought), I was writing them down in a book and numbering them at first, not knowing then what a massive influence music would have on me for the rest of my life, still voraciously seeking out new and old tunes that are new to my ear, as well as listening to old favourites.I have come across several people in my life who I view with very arched eyebrows and deep suspicion, when they say they have no interest in music at all, and don’t really like any particular style of music. If you can’t tap your foot to anything, out of the innumerable genres of music, you are in my humble opinion, ” A Zombie ” !
Personally I collect and listen to all sorts of Music from George Formby (stop laughing) to T. Rex / Indian Stuff (Asian not North American), Electronica, Reggae / Dub, Latin, Acid Techno, Northern Soul, Funk, Gregorian Chant and Allsorts of things, (though Yee Haa – Slappa My Thigh – Country and Western hasn’t Ticked any Boxes yet), and before the kids came along a few years back I was always out on Allnighters shaking a leg, all round the North West and doing lots of Festivals, still occasionally get the chance. Anyone remember Monroes @ Great Harwood / Empire @ Morecambe / Carlos @ Colne / 1 in 12 @ Bradford, all a bit non glam, but Top Places. Now more laid back living up a Mountain in North Wales, know loads of sheep on first name terms, there are more of them than people round this chilled place I live, and like their human counterparts some are bonnier looking than others (so the locals tell me). If there are North Wales FC Fan’s, current or potential, give us a shout about car sharing to a few, or lots of games. If you have not been before you don’t know what you’re missing ! Loving getting the music together each week for the show, though it does take longer than I first anticipated, but I’m absolutely proud and thrilled to be a part of this growing Club of ours, and just hope the Music played is a mix of familiarish things, and things that might make you prick your ears up, and enjoy something you haven’t heard before, and maybe follow up a liked tune by seeking out what other things the Artist has done. Stevie D: The Show With No Name combines my passion for FCUM and my love of music. I’ve been a lifelong United fan – ditched my season ticket in favour of FCUM not just because of the Glazier take over but through becoming increasingly disconcerted, distanced and – yes bored! – with the modern Premier League.I have a deep love of a wide range of music and when I spotted in the programme that there were opportunities to get involved at FCUM Radio, I thought this would be a good chance to have a go and bring in my lifelong friend Doran. So now we present a 2 hour daily show and feel involved (in a nano-way!).Doh: Stevie D and Doh are childhood friends and performed in many unsuccessful bands together. In an early incarnation they fused punk, rap and free-form jazz. The world was not ready. They gigged and propped up many a battle of the bands competition in and around Manchester. The band split following paternity suits and Doh pursued a frustrating (for the listeners) solo music project that resulted in two albums universally panned as utter pants by the critics. At the turn of the millennium Doh (Stevie D – “Doh is this about both of us or just you?”) had a brief period presenting a hospital radio late night slot from which he was formally suspended. The duo re-united and crept cautiously onto the airwaves in November 2010 with expectations suitable low. You can email Stevie D and Doh on showwithnoname@fcumradio.co.uk |

Originally from Seaham Harbour, Sunderland, if you cut me in half no doubt you will find the words makemthrough my very core like a stick of rock. But like most of you I became hooked on FCUM from that very first season in the Northern Counties with a couple of friends who were lifelong MU supporters and often used to smuggle me into the Stratford End when the lads were playing. But no more, this black cat has turned black sheep (so I’m told) and no more travels on the A1 in search of the football fix.I learned my dark arts of DJ’g after being interviewed about a forthcoming Jazz club weekend I was organizing in Rochdale by the local hospital radio team doing an RSL at the time. I was brought up on a diet of British R&B bands and even risked a night out in the Toon for my love of music. I discovered Jazz later on during a spell down south where I was introduced by a Crystal Palace fan to it. He now supports Canterbury City who play in the Southern non league. I’m playing an eclectic mix of jazz with a mixing of R&B, so Hot Biscuits is a jazz and blues show. The Jazz is across the range of this music, early piano rag, New Orleans, Swing, Be-bop, hard bop, West coast, fusion and contemporary sounds. That includes Scott Joplin, Rhythm Kings, Glenn Miller, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollin, Pat Metheny, Courtney Pine and anyone living in Manchester who can play a sax.I’ve been involved in a local J&Blues club till it died. I currently frequent the RNCM, Matt & Phred’s and the Band on the Wall. Not forgetting the annual Manchester Jazz festival now in year 12 of its life and going strong. I’m currently engaged in a project to get local Manchester bands over to the Catalan festivals of Jazz. Jazz has a different life out there in the sunshine. To aid your enjoyment of this show the output is enabled with bable-fish software. Listen and enjoy. You can email Steve on hotbiscuits@fcumradio.co.uk |

Hello my names Bill Mitton and I have Folk & Blues radio shows on other radio stations.. I COULD tell you their names…but why advertise them, they don’t advertise FCUM Radio….I love and play ‘finest kind’ Folk & Blues music..from….Well ..anywhere that takes my fancy really and I’ve been doing it for over forty-five years. I also take great pleasure in discovering the new Folk and Blues voices in our area…. As long as they play and sing the kind of music I like…. and I HOPE you’ll come to like as well. Unfortunately Man United’s Result is STILL the first ones I look for each week.. I know. I know..weak willed… but I don’t go to the Matches anymore…so those Yanks ain’t getting my Money…mainly cos I’m retired and haven’t got any anymore! But the second result I look for is always FCUM…and by gum haven’t they been spectacular? I’m from Salford originally.. over 65 and well over 16 stone, short of hair and breath. I’m retired from real work now but in my time, I’ve been an Electrician, Soldier, Electronics Engineer, Quality Engineer Part-time Playwright, Writer, Poet, Historian,… I’ve got my twenty five yards swimming certificate and once got cashiered out of the cubs…for lighting a fire inside a tent (it seemed logical to me it was throwing it down outside). I love Corned beef Hash, Chilli, any literature from Chaucer to Pratchett, all types of music, but especially Folk and Blues. I’ve got most of my own teeth .I’m gobby, self opinionated, and according to my Son (who’s a BLUE ) can be A RIGHT GRUMPY OLD SOD…but not when the music is playing then I’m “MISTER HAPPY” mind you when it stops… OK I am ..Right that’s about it..Sit Up at the back! …. Because there will be questions later……PS: If you’re really boring, and nosey, enough to want to know the other stations I have shows on ..e-mail me..IF I’m in a good mood I might tell you……
